DWP GOV.UK Cookie consent using CIVIC Cookie Control
CIVIC has implemented the DWP Consent to cookies pattern for Drupal 8/9 and Wordpress websites using our own cookie compliance solution, Cookie Control.
GOV.UK devised a Design System, that is essentially a set of suggestions for anyone involved into website building for Governmental organisations. It is composed of Styles, Components and Patterns bringing together the latest research, design and development from across government.
The design system is actually open and any governmental organisation may propose or implement the desired extensions.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have released their own extension of the GOV.UK design system. The DWP design system contains styles, components and patterns that are either not yet implemented in GOV.UK design system or are unique to DWP services.
The DWP design system suggests a cookie consent pattern to be used in all public facing DWP services. The pattern provides the guidelines including the cookie consent banner, the cookie consent preferences centre and the overall workflow of providing consent to cookies.
Although the user interface and the overall workflow is thoroughly presented, a concrete implementation is not provided and the mechanism for removing/accepting cookies is actually missing.
CIVIC in an attempt to fill this gap and move this piece of work forward, implements the DWP pattern for Drupal 8/9 and Wordpress websites using our own cookie compliance solution, namely Cookie Control, to support the pattern and properly handle cookies based on user’s consent.
Cookie Control can be installed on any CMS that supports custom JavaScript, and is available as a Drupal and WordPress module.
